304 LIVE From Tiki Caliente 6
/Each time we have the pleasure of attending one of the great weekend tiki events we also record a LIVE podcast. This is one of those few occasions that listeners and new friends are invited into our hotel room for a podcast, cocktails and our little quiz show called "What's in Kalani's Bra?"
Our show begins as always with a lovely beverage that continues in our tradition of making something on the fly. Sometimes our room parties are so successful that we have no booze left and need to run to the market so we can whip up something for our podcast listeners. Every bartender should be able to do this by simply balancing your Sour, Sweet, Strong and Weak.
For the recipes to the drinks we served to over 300 people during our event room party, check out the link for Ginger Esque and the Banana Cream Pie. Both cocktails are inspired by our Gillingan's Island themed party. We highly believe that theming a drink to your party is a great way to make sure your event flows. Hosts dressing in costume is another nice way to lend to the atmosphere even when your guests may not be in costume.
Our weekend wouldn't be possible without Rory Snyder, the host and organizer of Tiki Caliente. If you were tickled by this event be sure to get ready for Mod in October each year, also hosted by Rory Snyder and SHAG. We are very pleased to announce that Zen Tiki Lounge is in this issue of Tiki Magazine and More which is THE print and digital magazine for those who want to know about everything going on in our growing Tiki (and more) community. You can also get a copy at Tong Hut (North Hollywood or Palm Springs). Our big thanks to Rhum Clement for sponsoring one of our most well received cocktails, the Tahitian Exotique. And we also want to give a huge mahalo to everyone who attended, participated and crawled along all weekend in the Tiki Caliente room crawl. All of the hosts of Zen Tiki Lounge enjoy being judges for this wonderful tradition and we couldn't be balanced without Kelly Merrell and his cocktail palate.
Tiki Mugs given away on this episode of the podcast are crafted and produced by our friends at PopTiki of Colorado. Making small batches of mugs here in the USA, right from their garage. Check out their stuff and get a PopTiki mug for yourself.
