Our resident tiki bar psychic hasn't dropped by the lounge in a very long time. The wait is over. Campari Kraken glides down on his flying carpet to sip his signature cocktail and use his all knowing all seeing powers to answer some listener questions. Be prepared to be both amazed and offended. Mix up the drink to go along with this episode for the full effect. Other subjects include news about the upcoming shows by Mr. Ho's Orchestrotica and tips on planting mint for your cocktail garden.
Sometimes it takes more than one try to get our podcast recorded and ready for you. Sunshine and Starshine were in the lounge sipping the Forbidden Atoll when shortly after finishing the show, disaster struck. We may never know where the original first 20 minutes of this episode went. Lucky for everyone we were together again at a local casino and had time to bring the laptop. Special thanks to our listeners who sent in some great questions that led to ample conversation. And, a big Mahalo to Mr. Ho himself for sending an audio clip with details on the upcoming tour. Listen to the whole hour for all the fun. Plus, music by Jim Fiegan from his album Tiki Blues.
Apparently our listeners prefer our podcast recorded while the Zen Tiki Lounge is "open" for business. This quick episode was recorded during our annual Mulled Wine Night, kicking off the new year with friends, spirits and kitschy snacks. Sit back and listen just like you were in the lounge with us. Music on this show is a bongolicious exploration of stereo sound. Enjoy
Nothing is more fun that listening to other people drink, eat and be merry for the holidays. Join Sunshine, Starshine, Pumpkin and Kalani in the Zen Tiki Lounge for their 8th annual Christmas Spectacular. We share a super simple holiday cocktail recipe called Xmas Helper along with an appetizer that only men seem to enjoy and some surprises. Look for the creepy baby doll and her minions of Christmas joy.
We all dream of a tropical destination that isn't on any map and no one remembers how they got there. You may try to recall the exact longitude and latitude but this was a once in a lifetime trip. Memories are your only take back. Except for the quintessential island libation you were greeted with. Go back to the warm sandy shores and pristine waters with the Forbidden Atoll drink in your hand. Mildly sweet coconut and pineapple juices shaken with three rums and a hint of the elixir that only the green fairy could capture.
The Sea Slug comes to us from the shores of Brazil. Although no one has seen this elusive creature in over 40 years, it is said that drinking this beverage in its honor can cure illness and improve sexual stamina. We just like the refreshing creamy texture and sweet and sour combination of tropical juice and South American Cachaca. Enjoy the Sea Slug on the beach or in your favorite dark corner.
Eggnog can be a love or hate relationship. But Coquito is easier to love. This tropical version of an eggnog (eggs not even necessary) will likely become one of your favorite holiday traditions. Coconut, ginger, clove and rum make a tasty cordial enjoyed my many including vegans.
When you make this punch correctly it will a a slightly yellow brown color, hence "Dirty Christmas Punch." The cinnamon and peppermint bring out hints of the holiday season without being overbearing. This is also a great drink to put in a crock pot on low and serve warm with whip cream.
