137 The Mini Bar Party with Michael Jackson

This episode was originally recorded 7/4/2009. Our views and comments about Michael Jackson are somewhat different a decade later. Sunshine and Starshine in the lounge this week.  After some fairly painful dental work Sunshine is a bit under the influence of numbing agents so our drink this week is not the usual poison.  Using Beachbum Berry's iPhone app (Below) we find a great coffee cocktail called Otto's Grotto.  Try this one after dinner, with dessert etc.

Our conversation this week ranges from the west coast to the east.  We welcome about a dozen new listners and fans from the east coast thanks to listener Ronnie who did some great "word of mouth" for us.  Back here on the west coast was the memorial service for MJ: Michael Jackson.  The entire city of Los Angeles is a little ape s&!t today with all the goings on down at the Staples Center.  Both Sunshine and Starshine have their own unique point of view on the passing of the King of Pop.  On a more Zen note we go over a few thoughts on living a more stress free lifestyle and what exactly is ZEN anyway.  There is plenty more current events discusses as well, tune in and enjoy!

Although Pumpkin was not in the lounger for this podcast she made sure we knew that there are vegan honey alternatives. This was complete news to Sunshine. Over the last few years we have tried a few of the “not” honey honeys and Bee Free Honee is our favorite. Does it taste like honey? Not so much. The texture and aroma are very nice with hints of apple and something we would call woodsy. Sunshine agrees that this product does help a sore throat…keeping in mind there was also rum in that tea.

Mentioned above the Total Tiki app by Beachbum Berry is the best $10 you will ever spend on a cocktail app.

In 2009 we attended Tiki Oasis Surf City. The event was already nearing a decade of celebrating tiki by the time we hosted our 2nd room party. Often on this podcast we talk about how much fun it is to attend these weekend long events, host a party and enjoy the Ohana. If you haven’t been to TO…..its still going strong. Check out the site and be sure to jot down when next years rooms/wristbands go on sale as this event can sell out the same day it releases.
