Exotic Sundown

Those of us living in the citrus growing regions of the world know that there is no substitute for the real thing.  If you can get fresh citrus where you live, mix your own version of this cool and sunny cocktail.  Zesty citrus, rum, vanilla and a hint of spice are stirred together to create a cocktail worth its weight in gold.

1.5 ounces Aged Rum (Jamaican or Barbados)

1 ounce Liquor 43

.25 ounce Maraschino Liquor

.25 ounce fresh Lemon Juice

.25 ounce fresh Lime Juice

.25 ounce fresh Orange Juice

.25 ounce fresh Tangerine or Pink Grapefruit Juice

4 Drops Allspice Dram

In a mixing glass stir all ingredients very well with ice.  Strain and pour into chilled coupe glass or cocktail glass.  Do NOT shake.  This cocktail is best enjoyed when citrus is fresh in season.  The best way to enjoy is by mixing .25 ounce lemon, .25 ounce lime and then any combination of the sweeter citrus juices like tangerine, orange, tangelo, pink grapefruit etc. You want 1 ounce total of the combined citrus.  A decent substitute for Allspice Dram is Angostura Bitters.
